Less is More 4.0 out of 5 stars The machine arrived quickly and everything was included and in working order. Receiving the 16 various Nespresso pods was helpful, but if you are like me it will take a bit of experimenting to figure out how best to use the machine, so odds are a few of those pods will not be optimally used, so I would play around with ones either you don't think will be your favorites or a cheaper pod (I ordered some Gourmesso pods which are a little less expensive so I played around with those first and they all worked perfectly in this machine) so you can really try them. Here's what I've learned: - To get your drinks at their warmest temperatures you will ALWAYS want to both pull a blank water shot (just press the espresso button without a pod in the machine but make sure you pretend to eject the pod after because a little more water will come out and you don't want that in the glass you are ready to use that might have syrup in it) AND clean the milk frother, if using milk, by holding down the black clean button for about ten seconds into either the glass you will be using (make sure you dump out the water before creating your drink!) or a different glass. I also like to prewarm the glass I will be using by filling it with water and microwaving for anywhere between one to two minutes. If I do all this I find the drink is warm enough for me without having to microwave after creating the drink (which ruins the foam in my humble opinion). - You can play around with how much milk or espresso is made by holding down the button you are using to program the machine.

If you do this the machine will remember and use that amount the next time. So, if you didn't like the result remember to set the machine back to the default setting by pressing all four buttons (lungo, espresso, latte, and cappuccino) down simultaneously for a few seconds until they stop blinking. - Make sure to clean the milk frother by holding the clean button for about ten seconds, you'll see why after you do it. I also choose to pull a blank espresso shot as a way to clean that part. - I recommend cleaning out both the used pod holder and the tray below it (that slides in and out to accommodate different sized glasses) as they both fill with a little water. I've attached several photos. A default sized latte with one tablespoon of syrup, a default sized cappuccino without syrup, and two cappuccino glasses showing the volume of foam using, on the left, the low foam setting, and on the right, the highest foam setting. The volume looks almost the same, but the density of the foam in each is very different. The whole reason for buying this particular machine is the attached, easy to use, milk dispenser which steams the milk. It's delicious! We've used all different types of non dairy and dairy milk and it all frothed beautifully. I especially LOVE that it is super easy to clean (I hand wash and it's quick and simple!) and that the container goes right into the refrigerator when you are finished using it. One final tip. If you have playful cats DO NOT leave the small milk container parts out to dry on your kitchen counter. Now I dry the small parts in the kitchen cupboard. April 2017 Update: We still love this machine. We've now had to descale and the process was relatively quick and simple. The part you need for descaling is conveniently located in the compartment right under where the milk container goes. It simply attaches to the machine like the milk container does. Videos are available online - I watched one first and it helped a lot.

Also, I had read that generic descalers (much less expensive) would work so used Goo Gone Coffee Maker Cleaner and it worked perfectly.I fear continued angled presses may cause wearing and tear and eventually break. 2. The clean button on the milk frother. When pressed for cleaning back-to-back (2 cleaning cycles) it sometimes does not register the 2nd cycle. You also have to hold it down firmly for the entirety of the milk cleaning cycle. 3. The collection tray tends to catch not only the used pods, but also hot coffee. Not sure why used hot coffee is getting pooled into the collection tray. 4. The biggest flaw is the small water container. I am having to refill the water tray after every two coffee cycles. A cycle includes: 2 water (presses): once to heat up the mug and once to clean afterwards, 2 milk frother (presses): once to heat the mug and once to clean the frother afterwards, And 1 actual coffee making(press) Other than these small annoyances the machine runs and makes amazing coffee flawlessly. Have not had a single bad coffee tasting experience after a month of daily use. I will update this review if need. If you found this review helpful please consider upvoting the review (helpful button). We've only used it a handful of times. Called Delonghi for support - they forwarded me to Nespresso support saying that since they didn't manufacture the machine - they didn't support it. Nespresso support asked where I got it from - and when I said Amazon - they asked me to call Amazon support!!! Not sure that Amazon is going to fix my Nespresso. Going to continue to try working with Nespresso - but please be aware that I found two issues here: 1. DeLonghi not wanting to support this - after all it's their brand on the machine 2. Nespresso defering to an online retailer. Update: On the off chance that I reached someone who gave me incorrect information - I called the Nespresso support line again.

Got someone else who told me that they can absolutely support a machine purchased on Amazon. Waiting to see if the replacement part they send fixes the issue.I’ve been using it for months and it’s been completely trouble free. A few things I would like to point out as they are not obvious: -The machine is very compact, narrow and easily fits under cabinets. -Despite its diminutive size this thing is quite heavy. Much more so than my Keurig 2.0 special edition (even with the water). -You will probably wake people up in the next room when the machine is brewing as it’s not quiet. Noise is comparable to a blender. -It is recommended that you clean the milk apparatus every two days when it’s filled. It disassembles easily and cleaning isn’t a big deal. I recommend putting all the little parts in the container with hot water and soap and shaking vigorously, allowing it to drain though the holes. -The warm-up time puts the Keurig to shame. Overall I highly recommend picking up one of these as it makes excellent beverages (I’ve learned to enjoy lattes thanks to this).Makes a big noise while using, but its the same for all Nespressos. The coffee is awesome and both water and molk get hot very quickly. The milk skimmer is very easy to clean and you just need to stor it in the fridge if there is still milk in it. Original price is a bit expensive, yoy pay for the brand I guess, but I got it for a 50% discount so its perfect,This machine is easy to use, easy to customize, and easy to clean, and produces excellent macchiatos and cappuccinos. The pod selection is quite varied, so we have been working our way through a variety pack to choose our favourites. A hearty recommendation. It is more expensive per cup than a traditional coffee maker or a less expensive pod option, but for us it is worth it for the quality and ease of use.Since then we have nothing but issues with it. The milk foamer stopped working all together.

Also to make a coffee now u have to stand there and hold the button down the whole time. Would not recommended this product especially at its price point. The flavour was awful and steamer wasn’t very good. Go for the cheaper one the coffee is always hot and deliciousIn order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. At Real Coffee we recommend an espresso size of 40ml, with a lungo of 100ml. If you prefer your coffee extra strong, adjust the size of your espresso to 30ml and your lungo to 80ml. The DeLonghi Lattissima Touch EN 550.S is equipped with an automatic cappuccino system and six programmable one-touch drink options. The Lattissima Touch EN 550.S is a single-serve espresso machine designed to brew using Nespresso premium espresso capsules.A thermoblock heating element and 19-bar high pressure pump produce the perfect extraction for pre-packed, single serving Nespresso capsules.

Straightforward programming and multiple brewing options mean you can dispense drinks quickly, simply, and easily without the fuss and mess of grinding, measuring, and tamping grounds. With a 12 oz automated milk system and a 30 oz water reservoir, espresso and milk are dispensed together into your waiting cup, cutting down on time and simplifying the whole process.Nespresso capsules are specially designed so just the right amount of water flows through them during the brew cycle; then they are automatically ejected into an internal dump box after brewing is completed. Capsules store easily and protect the coffee from any harmful effects of moisture, light, and air. The hardest part of brewing on the Lattissima is deciding which Nespresso capsule blend you prefer. Once you’ve made your decision, open the lever located in the center, just over the coffee spout, insert the capsule, and close the lever. Press the espresso or lungo (small or large cup) button, and the button blinks as the machine brews espresso directly into your cup. If you prefer a cappuccino or latte, make sure the milk system is inserted, and press the cappuccino or latte button. Milk and espresso are then dispensed into your cup. Once this is complete, lift the same lever again to eject the capsule into the internal container, and close the lever again. You’re all done! It’s so easy! Place your cup below the coffee spout, and move the milk spout so it is pointed into the cup. Select either the cappuccino or latte macchiato button, and your preference is dispensed into your waiting cup. Knowing how to froth and steam your own milk is undeniably a skill, and not everyone has the time and patience to perfect it. That’s where the patented milk system comes in. Adjust the frother regulator depending on the quantity you want, and the kind of milk you’re using (skim milk produces more froth than whole).

A thermoblock heating element and 19-bar high pressure pump produce the perfect extraction for pre-packed, single serving Nespresso capsules. Only one is used at a time, so I’m covered the next time I get the “orange light”. Additionally, there are three (3) separate books of instructions that apply the descaling instructions to the various Nespresso machine models. Once you plug that into the “milk frother” opening, the light sequence confirms that its ready to “descale”.After the cycle is done and the button is blinking orange again, rinse out the water tank, empty the containers, and push the blinking button to flush out the system. I made sure to send hot water through the espresso cycle before putting in a pod, just to make sure the machine was rinsed thoroughly. The instructions provided were fairly clear, but the machine is so intuitive that I wasn’t left guessing for too long on certain steps. I certainly would think ahead and get a kit with your next capsule order so you don’t waste the money on shipping the kit alone; trying to find a substitute for this would have been risky and the cost differential would be minimal. This is such a great post! Shall I rescale again? If not, and the buttons keeps blinking, I would go through the process again but without the solution. Notify me of new posts via email.
